Coca-Cola Falvored Gelatin With Glaceed Black Cherries

Hah! Fooled you! Were you excited to read about such a tasty treat? If so, I'm sorry, I don't do jello, much less Coke-flavored jello so you'll just have to buy the new memoir, "All the Presidents' Pastries" by Roland Mesnier who is, you guessed it, an ex-White House pastry chef. The Coke-jello-cherry dessert is evidently an old family favorite of the Clintons. Read all about it or go to the "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" public radio show this week only and hear all about it.

it must've been the "glacee" that added a touch of class to the coke jello.

I ADORE "wait wait don't tell me", however. :)

Yipes. Seems like perhaps some little marshmallows would be a nice addition as well.

Hi Tracie, I'm sure in the age when refrigerators (not ice boxes) were a luxury, jello was chic. I dunno about the coke but jello with glaceed cherries would have been classy.

Hi J, Wait Wait is something I make sure to listen to every week.

Hi Scott, Ooh yeah! Maybe the rainbow colored marshmallows they havehere in Italy. That would be great on top!

Hi Melissa, I didn't know so many people liked Wait Wait... That;'s excellent.

Hi Ragazza, Yeah, gross, but maybe that's how they came up with Cherry Coke. (then again, maybe not)

Hi ML, You know, I've been wondering just how the jello turns out, is it bubbly? Do you have to open the Coke and let it go flat before you make the jello? Hmm... I may just have to try this and see...

Cola jello? Yikes! Sounds like something a pregnant woman would dip into with a pickle! :) I wonder if it's better tasting than it sounds????

Hi Beenzzz, It's probably just like cherry coke...but thicker.

Hi Jackie or Corrie, Yeah it does sounds nasty, but I'll bet back in the day when jello was cool (the early '60s Julia Child has a lot of savory gelatin dishes) people probably didn't cringe quite as much as we do.
